North Carolina Museum of Art Park Expansion

The North Carolina Museum of Art is in the process of constructing a $13 million expansion to the outdoor park area. The expansion will provide room for additional outdoor projects for the community to participate. There has been a proposal by dedicated Park volunteers for the expansion to include a sensory garden for the Museum’s abled-bodied and challenged populations to experience. Considering the needs of the Museum’s visitors, the NCMA has started developing a concept of a Discovery Garden. Imagine being able to smell and taste herbs, touch Lamb Ears, enjoy the sight of a variety of trees while listening to reedy plants blowing in the wind. Visitors would be able to experience the garden with any of their senses.
